brrr!!!

I went out to see Danny Boy a few days ago and boy did I wish I had brought a hat, scarf, and gloves. I was freezing! NOt only was it cold but there was a strong wind whipping too! Well, next time I know what to bring. I pulled Danny out and fed him a little bit of grain because we are trying to get him back on a feeding schedule. HIs winter coat is growing in thick and he looks so pretty and puffy. :) I will be going to FL soon to be with my grandparents and to go to Disney World! I will miss all my animals but I dont want that to ruin my fun.

family fun

The Brewer family came out with their four kids to have some horsey time. Their daughters love horses but never has any chance to be around them. They came out to the farm a few days ago and I gave them all 'pony rides' although, there is nothing 'ponyish' about Danny Boy. He was "the perfect horse" that day. He was slow and would stop every time any of the kids started feeling uncomfortable. He was so amazing and patient. He gave double pony rides around the ring, which is quite large, at least fifty times! I felt so bad because I didn't have any treats to give him after such a hard day at work.But I tried to make up for it in love. I petted him, brushed him down, gave him a 'massage' and tried to make him as comfortable as i could. He seemed very happy.

The next day however is a different story. He would not stay on the edge of the ring when my brothers and sister were on him. He kept 'taking off' on them. I wasn't worried. My brothers and sister all have a pretty good seat on him, and all he would do is trot as fast as he could, he is to fat to go any faster :/, towards the gate and then stop. Eventually I had to get on him to make sure he wouldn't take off, run to the gate, or cut corners in the ring. He tried to do all that with me but I didn't let him so eventually he calmed down. It was so nice to ride him again and I hope to do it more often, it is just so hard to find the time to drive, or get my mom to drive, out there...It will be so much easier once I get my licence.

Wow! It has been quite a while since I last posted. Danny Boy is doing well, finally losing a little bit of weight. Sadly, Dante is lame. But he is getting better. Kelsey went into the ring with him after I was done training Danny, and he suddenly started limping. The vet told us it was an absess (however you spell it :) and that he should be fine soon. We are starting to feed our horses again as the first frost has already come. It has been so beautiful this fall. The LORD has blessed us with amazing colors and weather this year. Hopefully I will remember to post soon!

Nice Day

Well today Amy Gaynor came out and did some jumper stuff with me! that was good but Dante wanted to test me today. Well we were doing the line but you had to make a little bit of a hard to turn and Dante thought what heck is this so he kept running out of the jump so we keep trying so we put this pole on the right side of the jump and he almost falls on it but thank God I didn't fall but almost did. So we come to a trot and decide to make the turn bigger and we did it I got him to go over it at the trot yay!! then we did the oxer to the line and he rushed it but the second him I got him nice and collected over it I was so happy. Then we did some harder stuff and he did it yay so we have some turning to work on which I hope after we do trailer work we can practice the line again and get it down! post tomorrow!

Today was a great day riding i missed Kayla very much and hope to ride with her on friday:) today sense my mom had to get stuff done well it was quick ride but really fun we jumped a oxer that was really fun Dante did very well on the flat and jumping and still working on the ground tieing he did very well on that:) It really fun raising the oxer higher and him jumping bigger he seem not to like the little stuff that much the other day when i was doing a X- rail i was cantering it and he thought nope let just stop and walk over it well he did I was like are you serious lol.... But it was a really fun day riding Thursday and working with Mrs cloutier on the Trailer stuff Friday well you more then.

Fun times

Well there is alot to day i got Dante from the feild and then we groomed our horses he was really good ground tieing that was really cool then we had a little photo shoot by Trever Waring. The pictures should be up soon yay!!! i was working with Dante in the ring and decided to lung him so i lung him well he doesnt want to move so i try to get him moving so i wack him on the butt and he dosnt borther to move urggg... Amy comes and helps me so she has to take the crop and give him a wack on the butt he had a wake up call so he starts moving and did a very nice good lunging im really pround of him so i hope to keep working on with it and hope to ride tomorrow but dont know yet. Then Kayla and Trever and me start jumping the jumps that was so much fun. my feet hurt now but lots of fun

photoshoot!

We had a photoshoot out at the farm today! Kelsey, my brother Trevor, and I went out to the farm, groomed our horses and took pictures (which will be posted later)

After taking fabulous pictures, we went into the ring and ground trained a little bit. Trevor rode Danny. It was a lot of fun. At the end we pretended to be horses and took a video on my cell phone. We are so goofy! :) It was a TON of FUN!!!! Kelsey will now post and tell you all about it!

Fun Day

Today was a fun good day well the only scarey thing that happen was i got Dante from the Field and right as i was trying to close the gate all of sudden there is a huge i mean huge horsefly that got on him he trys to get it and i try to wack it but didn't work he thought well i should make a run for it. To get it off so he takes off in the field and im running after him staying its ok dante i got him and things calm down. Iit was fun riding we did the flat did some ground work and some jumping that was fun:) today i rode in my tall boot and had a very hard time putting my heals down it didnt help to jumping but i had to push though the pain and when i put my heals down it make a really big differents to jumping so for a while im going to be riding in my tall boot to get use to them:( bleh....... oh well i have to cowgirl up:)
so when we were done riding it was bath time welll..... Dante try to eat this dead grass and steps on the lead rope and i try to back him up and goes forward and trip on me and wacks me in the face i gave gim a couple of tigs to tell him thats not ok and put his hoof back in place lol.... then he did great i praise him! and he was happy but now he is shiny as a star:) so then i clean my tack room. (more to do) well the beepuple bag rips that was not fun cleaning but i got the best i can in the bucket. but the cabnet still to clean.

Long time New post

Hello There
sorry i haven't posted in a very long time:( summer has been really busy so i haven't ridden very much im hoping to do more in the fall and some in the winter depends on the weather i went riding today it was fun Dante has gotten alot better at jumping:) i have a new bit im using. Its call a Happy Mouth it seem to help hold the head up so he doesn't drag me to the ground when we jump. Today there were new jumps and he seem to like them:) I'm hoping i can trail ride him with Kayla and show him in some jumper shows. There is alot i want to do with him but it all takes time:) this fall i cant wait I'm going to be riding 2 times a week and working on the ground and trails with him Thanks to Mrs Cloutier helping me with that:) When i get back from Vacation i hope to up date more on the blog and put some pictures up of us jumping! Hope to post soon

Man...i really need to remember.

I am so bad at remembering to update this blog. I have to be more faithful. Anyway, a lot has happened since i last posted, as can only be expected after such a long period of time.

I went to California for a three week vacation. (I have family out there) During that time I took riding lessons. It was a really good confidence boost for me. It also reminded me that I enjoyed riding, love cantering, galloping, and being around horses. And get this, when I got back, I wasnt scared to ride Danny at all. I even cantered him for about 2 strides. He is so out-of-shape that he can't quite get in to a full canter. Haha. I haven't ridden him since then but I haven't really had that much time. I have been in and out of camps all summer.

And that is pretty much the full story in a paragraph. I have gotten a lot better at keeping things short and sweet haven't I? Anyway, I will post when I have something to write about. Bye!

My birthday

WOW I havent posted in a loooong time. Anyway, It was my birthday a few days ago. Mrs. Cloutier took me and Danny on a trail ride. i had a lot of FUN!! We crossed two creeks and he did fine. It was a beautiful day. On the way back, a branch snapped and hit him on the rump. He took of into a trot but other than that it was a pretty peaceful ride. I am so glad the Mrs. Cloutier is my riding instructer and friend. Love you cowgirl!

Riding Dante again

Hello again
It was WONDERFUL to be back on Dante again!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have been working on making him stand at the mounting block. Mrs Cloutier has really helped me with that!!! 2 week ago i rode him for the first time It has been awhile!!!! when i rode him he was so happy too be ridden!!!! he was an angel!!!!! since then i have been riding more!!! i rode him wensday and thrusday!!! and thrusday was so much fun my sister Megan came out and rode with us that was so funny!!!! Dante i jumped he was really good jumping!!! i loved it!!! Meg rode dante and that was fun to wtach!!! resently i have been tacking Dante up in the ring It really helps him foucse on me!!! he was been doing very well with that!!! this weekend Mrs Cloutier and Amber and Kayla and I are going on a trail ride please pray that God would keep us protected and Dante Behave and Danny would too!!!

Intro...First Ride!

Hi ya'll! Today i went out to the farm and rode Danny for the first time this year! He was so cute and a joy to ride. My mom rode for the first time since her bad fall last March! It was beautiful. Dont you just love 72 degree weather in the winter? Love it!!! i was a little scared to ride him at first because it was my first time riding him this year. But then Mrs. Cloutier reminded me of Isiah 41:10. "Do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

then we sang along to the little church kid summer celebration tune and it gave me courage to ride him. I am so happy that I have a God who loves me and sends angels concerning and watching over me day and night. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as nice and i can go out again.

puppy!

Hey just wanted to let you know that my family got a puppy from a shelter yesterday! he is so cute. He is a border collie rotewieler mix. We are going to introduce him to the horses in about 3 weeks.

yesterday

Yesterday I went to feed the horses. I had two bags of rotten apples. i can tell you all the horses loved me! We took Danny out to feed and he ate like a snail...of course. Anyway I worked him just a little bit before putting him back in the field. And thats about it. Nothing fun except for breathing in that horsey air and smelling that horsey smell. Love it!

Long time no type!

Hey this is Kayla! I just fed the horses and it was quite an adventure! One of the horses named Lucky was pushing the horses away while they were feeding. He knows not to mess with me but he still messes with Danny and Dante. It was raining and slippery but my dad and I went into the field hoping that just our presence was enough to keep lucky away...it wasn't Lucky went around me to the other side of Danny. Danny reared a little and started towards me. I did'nt have much time to think (which might have been a good thing) so I did the first thing that popped into my mind. I made my angry sound. :)

Most of the horses know that when i start making my angry sound the best thing to do is turn around and go the other way (sometimes their pretty smart :)) and thats exactly what Lucky and Danny did. I was just a breath away from being trampled. At that piont I yelled across the field to my dad saying "Its not worth it, hust dump the food on the ground! Its to slippery!"

My dad agreed and we got out of the field. I was pretty mad at Lucky. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get him to respect me so that I dont have to pull the horses out every time I want to feed them. If you have any suggestions post them. hopefully I will start to update more frequently. I'll type soon!
